Image
Last week when I had symthoms of cough with Phlegm (just knew this terminology) I went to hospital in Ramkhamhaeng area, the doctor told me that I got SINU$, and he gave me a lot of medicine, which is not free but paid by my insurance policy. The doctor is a specialist doctor for Ear Nose and Throat, unfortunately speak very poor English. Or if I'm see it from very positive view that he was not well too therefore he just couldn't explain well why I got sinus and what caused it. The doctor which I assume is a senior doctor because he seems a bit senior than me, much more senior, from his hair. The next day I searched in Internet about SINUS, and there are three kind of SINUS, which the doctor failed to tell me which kind of SINUS I had, if any, which later proven to be WRONG: I don't have and free from ANY SINUS Some symptoms has been healed, but cough. Now even worse, so I decide to go to another hospital near Ramkhamhaeng, with the orange color building. This time I'm ...

Dangerous Cooking Habits - Part II

The second part of last post. -------- Microwaving food in containers Why is it dangerous? In the first article about cooking dangers, it was pointed out that the radiation from microwaves has not been proven to be particularly dangerous in itself, providing that the appliance is in good working order. Rather, the danger lies in the types of containers you microwave your food in. Certain plasticizers, chemicals designed to make rigid plastic more pliable, may act as endocrine disrupters. They may mimic or compete with human hormones, which could affect fertility or cancer risk. While more research is required to prove this link, it is best to avoid microwaving plastic containers that aren't specifically designed for microwave use. There are also concerns regarding Styrofoam and other materials such as paper coffee cups. When microwaved at high temperatures, paper and adhesives on the packaging may cause dangerous components to "leak" into food at excessive levels. These s...

Dangerous Cooking Habits - part I

You are what you eat. We eat food everyday every time, it's necessary to take care and choose healthy food. Some bad habits about food we must avoided are as below: ---- Too much salt An excess of sodium in a diet can raise blood pressure. That alone may cause numerous other conditions, some of which have permanent consequences. The American Heart Association recommends 2.4 grams of salt per day. More than that may lead to strokes and kidney problems. Salt hardens the arteries, so if a person happens to have high cholesterol, the problem can compound. Getting off the habit of salty food can also be frustrating; some claim that salt is addictive (ever see people who put salt on their food before tasting it?), so start early and avoid the "white stuff." Alzheimer's-causing foods The origins of Alzheimer's disease are still poorly understood, though one thing is certain -- prevention can start early. Studies are sketchy on the matter but here is what scientists have ...

The Most Dangerous Potato Chips to Eat

Image
I got this warning from my friend this morning. I’m not a junk food fan, but potato is my favorite food. Fried potato ie French fries or home made fries. In Indonesian culinary there is perkedel, made from potato. It’s very delicious. I like potato chips also, even not often and I can live without it. Just, a few months ago I ate 3 packs of Lays potato chips because I was with my friends at that time and everybody were eating some junk food. Ooo, it’s disappoint me that I have consumed ‘unhealty’ potato chips. Here is the article included Dr. Joseph Mercola’s comment, source : You can check the source at here Public knowledge of the serious dangers found in potato chips may finally be surfacing. The California-based Environmental Law Foundation (ELF) has filed notices with the state's attorney general against potato chip manufacturers: # Lay's potato chip maker PepsiCo Inc. # Pringles maker Proctor & Gamble Co. # Cape Cod potato chip parent Lance Inc. # Kettle Chips maker ...

Steps in making Artificial Eggs

Image
** Taken from another source ** For egg yolk, some lemon-yellow colouring powder is mixed to a liquid and the concoction stirred. The liquid is then poured into a round-shaped plastic mould and mixed with so-called ‘magic water’, which contains calcium chloride. This gives the ‘yolk’ a thin outer membrane, firming it up. The egg is then shaped with a mould. The shell is not forgotten. Paraffin wax and an unidentified white liquid are poured onto the fake egg, which is then left to dry. The artificial egg can be fried sunny-side up or steamed. Although bubbles appear on the white of the egg, those who have tasted it say the fake stuff tastes very much like the real thing. But experts warn of the danger of eating fake eggs. Not only do they not contain any nutrients, a Hong Kong Chinese University professor warned that long-term consumption of alum could cause dementia. 1. To make the egg white, various ingredients, including a powder and alum, are mixed together. 2. The ‘yolk’ is shap...

China’s Artificial Eggs

Image
Sep 11, 2007 Recently, China's artificial products have been under the spotlight in Korea. Several mainstream Korean media have reported on the process of making artificial eggs in China, which has stirred up panic and caused great concern among Koreans. On September 1 and 2, the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) did a documentary titled "Life without products made in China." The show followed the daily lives of three families in South Korea, the US, and Japan who refused to use products made in China. It also talked about rampant artificial eggs products in Chinese markets, catching the interest of the Korean public. Following the show, Korea's number one newspaper Chosun Ilbo, published an article titled "MBC Special exposes artificial eggs made in China," reporting in detail how the artificial eggs were made. The Dong-A Ilbo, another Korean newspaper, also published a report titled "Artificial eggs from China made of chemicals appear on the marke...
