DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries with which Indonesia has friendly relations, to study Indonesian language, arts, music and crafts as well as other courses at any universities in Indonesia.

The DARMASISWA program was started in 1974. until 1975, only students from ASEAN member countries were allowed to join the program. However, from 1976, students from other countries, such as Hungary, Borway, Mexico, Sweden, Canada, France, Australia, Japan, The Netherlands, Germany, and USA, were also allowed to join the program.

The main purpose of the Darmasiswa program is to arouse and foster interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among citizens of friendly countries. It has also been designed to reciprocate scholarship programs provided by other countries for Indonesian citizens and provide stronger cultural links with these nations.

Doctor Don't Angry

It's not good to compare people, but I write this to, well ... analyze two different persons acting in the same function, a doctor.

The first doctor when he saw my medical record pointing on my weight asking to the nurse in Thai: is it true??? Oh I don't know what was in his mind. I admit I am slim, and I keep what come to my stomach of course. Anyway he didn't care for my explanation so I chose quiet than to make the doctor unhappy. His English is good, and I could asked some questions.

The week after the first doctor, I went back to hospital, this time with another doctor. This young and beautiful doctor, I guess was a new one. At first she was very brilliant. When I told her my symptoms I found out that she couldn't speak English, and not understand English, almost at all. And she answered my questions in Thai, a very fast.

When I expressed that I didn't understand, she repeated it again, in Thai. Not satisfied with her answer I tried to tell her my symptoms and wanted to know the cause of my cough. She was very irritated with my questions ... so spoke when I told her .. so I told her to 'listen' .. She even didn't tell my what I should avoid, is there any things that I should do or not??She got angry and talked very fast .. I guess her saying something bad about me..... ggggrrrrrh.

Can you imagine a doctor couldn't speak English? I am sure many of the text book are in English .. or maybe not. But this is an international hospital in Bangkok ... excuse me Miss???

At first I really wanted to complain to the hospital about this. Then, well I am just a foreigner. And many of the hospital staffs don't speak or understand English. And again I remember many of my friend here they don't have the habit of 'asking questions' even if they don't understand about something or many things .... , so why do I add more complicated things to my life ???

From my opinion nowadays the patient are far more clever then ages ago. Patient expects the doctor not only to examined them. But patient would like to asking some questions (or ther term is 'consult"). They should try to listen to patient, if not how can they know what patient feels? And giving some advice to improve the health of patient.

I guess this doctor has skipped some courses or what, she needs to learn psychology. Or maybe the hospital tell them that there is no consultation session or what ... bu then the other doctor also tried to listen and to answer the questions. So it's not about the hospital regulation, bu the doctor him/herself.

Really .... I hope I do not meet her in the future.

Cough ... don't Love Me OK

I have this cough quite a friend now, more than a month. now it's a lot better. I have seen the doctor twice, with each give me different advice (they are from the same hospital) ... and so many friends who give me traditional advice as below:

- drink warm/hot (be careful not to burn your tongue!!) water
This I have done it until today. It's easy as we always have hot water at office.
- 1/2 spoon of lime juice + honey and take it with hot water.
- take Vitamin C everyday.
Yes I must admit I am a bad patient, ever skip my antibiotics twice because I forgot to bring the medicine. The same also with vitamin C I forgot it one or two times, so now I must remind myself to take it while working hour.
- have enough rest.
I have tried to cancel some appointments, and stay at home. Went to bed early, alas I still can not sleep at 10 pm, my mind keep planning this and that. I read until around 12 pm :). In other time while I took 2 days leave to have rest at home, I cleaned my room (small size but many things to look after ...), washed clothes and cooked.
- clean room from dust.
I did this, but it is tired for me ... Thinking about can do the 'wink' and a minute later all is shine and free of dust. Have you ever think of this??? Thought that I might consume too much fairy-tale stories ...

A friend, who knew about this (my cough) expressed this "I love you .... no sorry ... cough love you my dear ..."
Oh .. if the cough is a man, how I am happy ..
but no, than you "I don't love you cough .. you can go and find somebody love you.
Good bye cough ... "
