Surabaya

Surabaya is the capital city of East Java province. Formerly Surabaya was called Soerabaja, but then changed with the new Indonesian spelling. It is a city with history. Many tribes live here, Javanesse, Maduras, Chinese, Arabians. The main language used is Surabaya dialect, which is different with common Javanese.

Surabaya is also a second largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta. Although it is a large city, it remains the same as before, not too crowded or modern like Jakarta. It still has traditional side among the neighbours, where people care others. This build a good relationship and good environment control for a peaceful and understanding life.

The weather is hot because it located near the sea. In Surabaya there are many interesting places like zoo(it will be better if good-maintained), Monkasel monumen, Kya Kya food bazar. Around Surabaya we can find many interesting outdoor places to go: Tretes, Batu, Malang, Sarangan, Safari Park, Jatim Park.

It is very famous with delicious food. The food typically salty compared to Central Java (Solo, Jogja, Semarang) which is sweet Some and tasty. Foods that only can be found in Surabaya are:
Lontong Kupang
Tahu Campur
Rujak Cingur
Rujak Petis
Rujak Buah
Soto with koya (in other cities they don't use koya)
Now after those foods are famous, we can find in other places outside Surabaya, but still the taste is a bit different.

The other things I like about Surabaya, I lived there for several years. I have friends and spend quality times with friends and family. It’s not only a city, it’s my home. Whenever I go, I always long to back to Surabaya.
