Kdrama: My Boss My Hero
Cast:
Jeong Jun-Ho as Gye Doo-Shik
Jeong Wung-in as Kim Sang-do
Oh Seung-eun as Yoon-Joo
I have mentioned in my previous post that the Japanese drama has adopted the Korean version with the same title. With almost the same story: both gangsters are force back to school to get their diploma. This original version offers more violence compared to the Japanese version. The other differences are:
Korean version:
. Kye Doo-sik is the second man-in-command of a mob gang.
. Kye Doo-sik builds love relationship with his classmate Yoon-joo.
. The school is a high-class school which is bad managed. The parents routinely bribe the school principal to ensure their children get good marks, the school principal also does some sexual harassment to female teachers. The principal able to do to because he is backed by a local mob gang. The school also adopts brutal education system which a teacher punishes the late students every morning.
. Most funny parts caused by Doo-sik’s underlings, Kim Sang-do (who posed as Doo-sik’s uncle and falls in love with Doo-sik’s teacher) and Dae Ka-ri, (a dumb underling who always give bad advice to Doo-sik)
Japanese version:
. Sakaki Makio is the son of the current boss of a yakuza.
. Sakaki Makio is in love with his class mate, but no relationship between them, also his teacher Minami Yuriko likes him but there is no relationship between them too.
. St. Agnes is a nice school with all the teachers are clean. Example a male teacher when Makio offered him money to help Makio in his exam, the teacher refused it. Well, the teacher misunderstood of Makio’s intention.
. Sakaki Makio is the center of the funny scenes.
Ending: It’ happy ending, Doo-sik successfully complete his task. There is sequel My Boss My Hero II available.
I’ve watch Doo-sik’s other drama, he is good in acting.
